Playing God will attempt to win his second race of his autumn campaign when he contests the Group 1 W.A.T.C. Derby this Saturday April 2, 2011, at Ascot Racecourse.
The $500,000 W.A.T.C. Derby is a stayers race run over 2,400 metres that will run as Race 7 at 4.30pm (AWDT).
Playing God has put in four impressive performances this preparation so far, placing in both the Group 1 Australian Guineas and the Group 1 Australian Cup.
The Blackfriars three-year-old is based at Ascot Racecourse and trained by local trainer Neville Parnham.
Playing God has a successful young horse racing career, winning six of his 13 career starts and earning over $820,000 in prize money.
The three-year-old has drawn barrier 14 for the 2011 W.A.T.C. Derby and will be ridden by jockey Steven Parnham.
Odds for Playing God and all 16 other runners in the 2011 W.A.T.C. Derby will be available at Luxbet closer to the race date.
Also in the 2011 W.A.T.C. Derby final field is Trevor Andrews’ Veracious.
Veracious has won two of his seven starts, including the Listed T.J. Smith Trophy on February 19, 2011.
The three-year-old gelding has only failed to place once in his last seven races and is overdue for a well-deserved win.
The Systematic gelding will be stepping up to the 2,400 metre distance for the first time in his career, having only won over 1,400 metres and 1,600 metres in the past.
Also included in the 2011 W.A.T.C. Derby final field is Paul Jordan’s View The Stars and Grant Williams’ Dreamaway.
